A New Roadmap for Australia's Economic Engagement with India

It was an honour to be invited to the launch of ‘A New Roadmap for Australia's Economic Engagement with India’ last night, an important step in strengthening trade and investment ties between our two countries. The Australian macadamia industry was represented at the event by Marketing Manager, Jacqui Price.

With agribusiness recognised as one of the key ‘superhighways of growth’ in this roadmap, we welcome the Australian Government ’s long-term commitment to fostering trade relationships, including the $16 million Australia-India Trade and Investment Accelerator Fund and the additional $4 million for the Maitri (‘friendship’) Grants program. These initiatives will help unlock new commercial opportunities and enhance connections between Australian and Indian businesses.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating, “India is an essential partner as we diversify our trade links to boost prosperity for all Australians.”

We appreciate the leadership of Prime Minister Albanese, Minister for Foreign Affairs Senator Penny Wong, and Minister for Trade and Tourism Senator Don Farrell in advancing this important economic relationship. Australia’s macadamia industry looks forward to continuing to build on our relationship with India and exploring new avenues for collaboration.
