The latest macadamia industry benchmark report is now available to Australian growers and industry stakeholders. The report provides an analysis of the 2025 season and long-term industry trends since benchmarking began in 2009.

Insights include productivity, profitability, kernel recovery, factory rejects, production costs and resource use such as water, fuel and electricity. All major production regions are represented, allowing growers to compare performance across the industry.

The report includes data from 275 farms, with 231 bearing farms representing more than 31,500 tonnes of nut-in-shell production, or approximately 54% of Australia's crop. Operating cost data was provided by 87 farms, while 109 farms contributed resource use information.

Participation in benchmarking is free to all Australian macadamia growers through the levy-funded Macadamia Industry Benchmarking and Sustainability Insights Project (MC22000).

Participants receive a confidential, personalised benchmark report comparing their productivity, quality, costs (optional), and resource use against similar farms based on region, orchard size and tree age. Growers can also attend free regional Benchmark Group meetings to discuss seasonal outcomes, share experiences and learn from peers.

2026 Data Collection Now Open

Data collection for the 2026 season has commenced. Existing participants will receive a link to submit their information online over the coming weeks.

Growers wishing to join the program simply need details of their orchard plantings and seasonal consignments. You can provide your consignment information yourself or simply provide consent for us to source your data via your processor(s).

This is a joint initiative of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, the University of Southern Queensland, NSW Department of Primary Industries and the Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation.
