Help Shape the Future of Macadamias – Map Your Farm Today

The global macadamia industry is growing fast — global production is expected to jump by 10% each year until 2029. That kind of growth brings big opportunities, but also big challenges.

To stay ahead, we need better data. That’s where Australian macadamia growers come in.

Over the past few years, the University of New England has helped build the National Macadamia Tree Crop Map — a powerful tool showing where Australia’s commercial orchards are. The map covers around 45,000 ha of macadamia orchards and is available on the AMS website. Click to view by state or zoom in to see Local Government Areas.

Now, AMS is working to take it a step further by capturing block-level details, starting in the Bundaberg region.

With 50% of Bundaberg already mapped, we're seeing promising insights — and we’re inviting Australian growers to get involved no matter what region you’re in.

Why it matters to you:

Mapping your orchard will help the entire industry:

✅ Respond faster to pests, diseases and natural disasters

✅ Forecast yields more accurately

✅ Plan better for water, infrastructure and market demand

✅ Support sustainability and export growth

✅ Strengthen advocacy for growers

This data stays secure and is only accessible by the AMS — it won’t be shared without your permission.

What we need from you:

Basic details about your orchard blocks like location, planting year, cultivar, irrigation source, and tree spacing. It’s quick and straightforward, and we’re here to help if you get stuck.

How to take part:

📲 Or contact your AMS rep and share a KML file from your farm mapping app:

You can also watch this short video to hear grower Adrian Walsh share why he got involved.

Let’s work together to futureproof our industry — one farm at a time.
