Macadamias promoted and celebrated as part of Mary Valley Festival

Each May, the delicious products of the Mary Valley are celebrated during “GourMay Mary Valley” events (gourmaymaryvalley.com.au). Event organisers have a special love for macadamias – one of the few native foods to have emerged from the Mary Valley - and make the Macadamia Conservation Trust very welcome every year.

This year, MCT committee members guided participants on the Walk with Wild Macadamias and sold copies of The Macadamia Book on Festival Day.  We displayed leaves and nuts of the four species, along with our species ID sheets and explained to people which species they could expect to find in their local area (the Mary River winds through both Macadamia ternifolia and Macadamia integrifolia habitat).

The MCT display of the four macadamias species was popular at the GourMay Mary Festival Day.
