Strengthening global connections at Gulfood

Australian macadamias continue to build momentum internationally, with new opportunities emerging as global demand for premium nuts and ingredients grows.

Last month, Australian Macadamias market development manager Laura Davies attended Gulfood, one of the world’s largest food and beverage trade events, held in Dubai. Gulfood brings together buyers, food manufacturers, ingredient suppliers and foodservice leaders from across the Middle East, Europe and Asia.

For the Australian macadamia industry, the event was a valuable opportunity to connect directly with key players in the global nut and ingredient supply chain, strengthen relationships and gain insights into evolving market trends.

Supporting Australian growers and exporters

The visit also reinforced the value of the ongoing partnership between Australian Macadamias, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and Trade and Investment Queensland, who work together to support Australian growers and exporters as they as they expand their international footprint.

These partnerships play an important role in opening doors for Australian macadamias and supporting long-term market development.

Building industry alignment through INC

Australian Macadamias also benefited from strong engagement through the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC), which provides an important platform for global industry connection, collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

As the macadamia category continues to grow worldwide, participation in global forums like INC helps ensure Australian macadamias remain visible, well positioned and aligned with international market needs.

A market with future potential

While Australian macadamias are still relatively new in the United Arab Emirates, Gulfood provided a valuable opportunity to listen, learn and better understand the market’s needs and preferences.

Events like Gulfood are an important step in building awareness, identifying future opportunities and laying the groundwork for long-term growth in emerging markets.
