After the success of last year, the AMS is taking EOIs for two Kernel Recovery Workshops in Bundaberg and Lismore in August. These workshops are suitable for growers, grower liaison staff and researchers but they are open to anyone who would like to attend.
The workshops will provide a greater understanding of the Australian industry standards and procedures for NIS sampling and kernel evaluation. These procedures are used to determine the Kernel Recovery of your delivered NIS and the subsequent price you are paid for each delivery.
The workshops will include:
- An introduction to the AMS Kernel Laboratory Assessment Scheme (KLAS), its purpose and goals
- Review of Industry Standards and Procedures for NIS sampling, kernel evaluation and minimum grower reporting.
- You will have the opportunity to examine samples of the full range of kernel defects and their classifications as either Premium, Commercial or Reject grade kernel using the Kernel Assessment Manual (KAM)
- A full kernel recovery with be undertaken which will take you through the full kernel recovery process.
To allow ample time to cover the above and for questions, each session will be limited to a maximum of 30 participants. We hope to run at least one workshop in Lismore and one in Bundaberg depending on numbers.
