Meet your presenters

Pest Management

Researcher Bishwo Mainali (Macquarie University) will provide an overview of progress on MC21000, including gap identification, initial findings on orchard insect diversity, advancements in phenology modeling, and the development of preliminary population models for fruit spotting bugs and lace bugs, alongside investigations into the invertebrate predator community's dynamics and their influence on pest control.

Disease Management

The Integrated Disease Management (IDM) team, led by Femi Akinsanmi (QAAFI, UQ), will present latest insights into the biology and management of three priority diseases, including flower diseases, husk rot and BOT disease in macadamia.

Australian Tree Crop Mapping update

Researchers Abbie Rankin and Craig Shephard from the Applied Agriculture Remote Sensing Centre at UNE will share the latest update of the Australian Tree Crop Map, including a new application which predicts the planting year of macadamia orchards. Also, AARSC are supporting the AMS to include additional detail in the map at ‘block-level’ for industry-only, as a high value data collection, analysis and presentation tool.
