The AMS will be running several Kernel Assessment Workshops in Lismore and Bundaberg in late June.
Suitable for growers, grower liaison and processing staff and researchers, the workshops will provide a greater understanding of the Australian industry standards and procedures for NIS sampling and kernel evaluation. These procedures are used to determine product quality and subsequent grower payments.
The workshops will include:
- A brief introduction to the Kernel Laboratory Assessment Scheme, its purpose and goals
- Review of industry standards and procedures for NIS sampling and kernel evaluation
- A full kernel recovery from sample receival, moisture testing and kernel assessment
- Study of individual kernel defects and their classifications using the Kernel Assessment Manual (KAM).
To allow ample time to cover the above and for questions, each session will be limited to a maximum of 20 participants, so secure your space now.
FACILITATOR
AMS Kernel Laboratory Assessment Scheme Coordinator Darren Burton will facilitate the workshops, He has more than 25 year experience in the macadamia industry and will be assisted by experienced kernel lab staff.
