GES Mapping

GES Mapping creates detailed property maps using LiDAR to provide detailed property information including water flows, erosion hotspots, natural features (elevation, slope, aspect), tree locations and infrastructure.

All maps are in digital format (geospatial pdf) to be used on computers, smartphones and tablets.

Erosion Management Actions Plans (EMAP) are designed to assist farmers in minimising soil loss using both hydrological and erosion (RUSLE) modelling.

Maps include:- DP Plan – the survey data on the plan is used to obtain the property boundary. Aerial Photography – most recent available.

  • Elevation – image of height of land surface (map of potential energy of surface water).
  • Aspect – image of slope direction (map of water flow direction).
  • Slope – image of slope gradient or map of water flow rate.
  • Slope Zones – maps of slope gradient grouped into gentle, moderate or steep slopes. Used for slope specific management.
  • Slope Length – map of slope length as measured downhill from a drainage boundary. Highlights areas of excessive slope length.
  • Length-Slope Factor – map of potential erosion, defines erosion hotspots.
  • Flow Accumulation – map of surface water accumulation. Shows where water is going to. Water Catchment – map of boundaries of sub-catchments. Shows where water is coming from.
  • Flow Direction – map of water flow direction at the base of each tree colour coded for flow direction down the tree line or across the tree line. Defines areas where profiling is possible.
  • Geomorphology – map of landforms, close association with soil types.
  • Topographic Wetness Index – highlights wet areas (water logging, soil moisture, soil depth).
  • Drainage – 1m contour map with drainage lines and erosion hotspots.
  • Tree Location – determined by drawing a line along the canopy row as defined by lidar and placing a point at tree spacing.
  • Farm Plan – map of macadamia blocks and trees.
  • Vegetation – all vegetation > 2m height as defined by lidar.
