ANIC appoints new Executive Officer

The federation of tree-nut peak industry bodies, the Australian Nut Industry Council (ANIC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Cathy Beaton as ANIC Executive Officer (EO) based in Loxton, South Australia.

Cathy has extensive experience working in the governance and not-for-profit sector as well as government and the wine industry. Cathy will work closely with the chair and board as she focuses on providing leadership, management, administrative and organisational capacity to ANIC and the industry. Cathy will also be responsible for project managing the many programs delivered by the ANIC including the very successful Nuts for Life program.

An important part of the EO role will be liaising with research providers and funding bodies to facilitate the development of future research and development initiatives. Cathy will also represent the Australian industry at multiple levels on issues of common interest to its members.

ANIC Chair, Brendan Sidhu, says, “Cathy will play a key role in actively engaging with members to identify emerging issues and make the most of new opportunities. This engagement will form the basis for development of future project concepts as well as designing relevant technical transfer programs of R&D outputs and commercial best practice.”

Cathy’s appointment will strengthen ANIC’s ability to disseminate information to members and develop linkages between the nut industry and other sectors of the horticulture industry.
