Flood Recovery and Research Morning

NSW DPI in collaboration with AMS hosted a Flood Recovery Workshop at the CTR Alstonville to share the initial findings of their research into flood impacts on macadamias. Dr Suzy Rogiers & the NSW DPI team presented the results of preliminary trials and the initial observations of the main trial currently underway.

Topics included pre and post flood carbohydrate levels and photosynthesis efficiency, and the associated impacts on recovery; the likelihood of phytophthora spread and general observations on tree and orchard management.

The research and workshop were made possible through the support of the Early Needs Recovery Program, part of the $150 million Primary Industry Support Package which is co-funded by the Australian and NSW Governments.

The research project is ongoing and results will be reported through the AMS Bulletin and NSW DPI publications.
