The Federal Government is reviewing the Horticulture Code of Conduct, which regulates trade between growers and buyers of wholesale horticultural produce.
The review is taking place ahead of the Code’s scheduled expiry in 2027 and is examining whether the regulations remain fit for a modern and evolving agricultural sector.
The review is considering a range of issues including pricing arrangements, trading agreements, dispute resolution, compliance requirements and how different supply chains operate, including whether nuts, processors and export-focused industries should be considered under the Code in future.
While the Code does not currently apply to the macadamia industry, AMS is preparing an industry submission to ensure the unique structure of the macadamia supply chain is properly understood and represented.
Growers and industry stakeholders with feedback, concerns or suggestions are encouraged to contact AMS CEO Ben Baldwin ([email protected]) so these views can help inform the industry submission.
You can track the progress of the review and read the consultation papers on the Horticulture Code Review page.
