Congratulations to the Nuts and Dry Fruits Council of India (NFDCI) for the outstanding event that was MEWA 2024. Held over 2 days in Delhi, the inaugural business-to-business exhibition received fantastic support from the global nut and dried fruit industry, with more than 200 exhibitors from 20 countries and around 5,000 local attendees spanning importers, distributors and HORECA.
MEWA 2024 by NFDCI is driven by the desire to unify the industry and unlock the true potential of the rapidly growing Indian nut and dry fruits sector with Australian Macadamias CEO Clare Hamilton-Bate and Marketing Manager Jacqui Price representing Australia at the event.
The macadamia industry, including Australian Macadamias, collectively supported the Indian industry under the LoveMacadamia brand. As a Gold sponsor, macadamia nuts played an important role in the exhibition, with Clare and Jacqui sharing the many benefits of macadamias with businesses from across India’s supply chain.
Jacqui presented at the macadamia information session, and the program also featured a live macadamia culinary demonstration with well-known local chef Rakhee Vaswani.
The formal MEWA activity was proceeded by an exciting day of limited over cricket and networking – the MEWA Premier League. The ‘Australian Avengers’ organised by the Almond Board of Australia included players from across the Australian nut industries and Australian Government.
Between games, Clare & Jacqui met with representatives of the Australian Government. The Department of Agriculture team was in India for the week for important Australia-India Plant bi-lateral meetings re market access protocols for Macadamia and other nuts into India.
The MEWA 2024 event was rounded out with fabulous networking opportunities including a Bollywood evening and gala dinner.
Sincere thanks to Jillian Laing and the World Macadamia Organisation for organising a wonderful exhibitor collaboration. The Australian contribution to the sponsorship was part of the Nut Export Expansion Program facilitated by the Australian Nut Industry Council (ANIC) and funded under Agriculture Trade and Market Access Cooperation program (ATMAC), by the Commonwealth of Australia represented by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF).
