Japanese TV show all about Australian macadamias

This week, we hosted representatives from the famed Meiji chocolate company from Japan, who were here to film a Japanese TV show all about Australian macadamias and the journey from farm to consumer.

Meiji uses Australian macadamias in their products, referring to macadamias as the ‘King of nuts’ in all their packaging, and producers were keen to meet and film some of our local growers and processors.

Our sincere thanks go to everyone from the industry who helped out this week, including growers Col Dorey and Jamie Williamson and the entire crew from Macadamias Direct. Special mention must go to Jamie who became the unassuming star of the show, taking the film crew on an extensive tour of his orchard. We can’t wait to see the final cut!

The TV show, called ‘Real Scope’ is a fun, entertaining and educational program, and the macadamia episode will go to air in August. Meiji has been an iconic brand in Japan since 1926 and Meiji chocolate is currently the top seller in Japan.
