Macadamia jansenii project progressing well at Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens

Under the watchful eye of a bronze kangaroo, the collection of rare M. jansenii trees is starting to thrive at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha.  All the host gardens have had challenges in establishing this rare rainforest tree on a variety of sites and soil types.  Some trees have even been moved to different spots to help them establish. Tondoon Botanic Gardens at Gladstone is continuing their critical work of growing trees from cuttings with the aim of eventually having 6 insurance plantings of 43 genotypes, approximately half of the known adult population of this critically endangered species.
