Nutworks expands with new Cooroy facility

Nutworks has increased its drying and storage capacity by 300 per cent after acquiring a purpose-built facility in Cooroy.

The new property acquired in December adds to the company's processing sites in Bundaberg and Yandina, which also includes the popular retail store front.

The Cooroy facility was previously the home of Macadamia Exports Australia and, according to Nutworks, is the perfect fit for its plans to expand both NIS throughput and value-add production. It also has the advantage of being close to Glass House and Gympie macadamia growing regions.

Growing production and numbers of suppliers have underpinned Nutworks expansion plans for several years so the Cooroy move was well timed. In the last four years, the company’s intake has grown nearly threefold. This growth is set to continue with more suppliers coming on board and the use of ethrel necessitating increased storage capacity as more NIS is being received earlier in the harvest season.

The new facility, which is close to the Bruce Highway, has improved access for large vehicles, and has its own weighbridge and a container loading dock.

Nutworks has also upgraded its two-year-old Bundaberg facility and has installed a colour sorter and increased silo storage to improve its sorting capacity and throughput efficiency.
