Publications editor/coordinator - Part time

The Australian Macadamia Society is seeking an experienced editor and publications coordinator to assist the Communications Manager edit and manage a range of publications for growers and industry participants in the Australian macadamia industry.

The News Bulletin is the premier publication for the Australian macadamia industry. Published quarterly and distributed to over 700 people, the magazine is consistently rated in the top 3 sources of information for industry participants.

The communications program also includes a fortnightly enewsletter (circulation is over 1,000), a website, video production, fact sheets, grower meetings and electronic direct mail campaigns as required.

This role will be responsible for:

  1. editing and managing the publication of the News Bulletin magazine (80 pages on average) which includes:
    • writing/rewriting/editing and proofing technical articles, presentations, and other materials to communicate clearly and effectively research findings, technical developments, case studies and other news and information to a wide industry audience
    • ongoing liaison with a large contributor database
    • working closely with graphic designers and printers to ensure the AMS corporate style is maintained and the production schedule and timelines are met.
  2. assisting with development and content for all other publications and media including:
    • the fortnightly enewsletter and regular EDMs
    • the industry website www.australian-macadamias.org/industry
    • videos for the AMS YouTube channel
    • other marketing collateral such as invitations, fact sheets, and information booklets.
  3. liaising with professional marketing and industry development staff
  4. reporting to the Communications Manager and funding bodies.

The position is part time and based in the northern rivers of NSW although other locations will be considered for a suitable candidate.

Criteria Essential

  • At least 5 years’ experience as an editor or communications/publications professional
  • A working knowledge of agricultural production and/or rural communities
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • Well organised, able to work unsupervised and able to be part of a high functioning and flexible team Desirable
  • Experience with email marketing systems e.g. Mailchimp

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and proven performance. Applications close January 15 and the position is due to start before the end of February 2019.
