Walk with Wild Macadamias this May

The Walk with Wild Macadamias at Amamoor continues to inspire and educate people about the importance of wild macadamia habitat and in particular the value of the Amamoor Forests as an important refuge for Macadamia integrifolia, source of many of the cultivars grown today.

The Macadamia Conservation Trust would like to recognise the foresight and generosity of the sponsors who made the Walk possible:

The financial contribution from these sponsors has enabled an important and long-term partnership between MCT and the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (who manage the majority of remaining macadamia habitat).

This year, MCT Committee member Russell Bennett will again be leading walks as part of the GourMay Mary Festival.  On the 5th and 8th May, Russell will lead small groups along the walk at Amama to experience macadamia trees growing in their original habitat and talk about wild macadamia, the macadamia varieties and the important role that conserving the wild species plays in supporting the macadamia industry. Russell’s knowledge is not just macadamias - he is a fountain of information on Australian native foods and lucky participants can hear Russell share more of his knowledge over a macadamia-inspired morning tea at the Amamoor Village Green.  To book a place on one of the walks (and many other mouth-watering events) click here.
